Okay, so if you're not already impressed enough that I've updated my website and am writing my third blog post in a couple of weeks, then maybe this will help!
After suggestion from a friend (thanks PC!) I have now joined Instagram - there's a little clicky-link on my homepage (or in case I messed that up, find me at instagram.com/sarahollandauthor!). I'm still learning the whole thing, though I have to say initial thoughts are that it's a bit easier than Twitter, and I'm grateful for any suggestions on good hashtags to use :D Also, Kobo links for Thorn In Her Heart and Jumping Into Love are now up on their respective pages. And now real life intervenes for a bit (but I am 500 or so words into writing a brand new something!). As ever love Sara x

Just a quickie this time. Barnes & Noble links are now up for "Jumping Into Love" and "Thorn In Her Heart", with KOBO links to follow once they're available. I also checked/updated the Amazon paperback links for these two books if anyone (like me) still enjoys the feel of an actual book when they're reading! (And I'm waiting for a couple of copies to arrive by mail which is always a little bit nerve-wracking as I wait to see just how well the cover art has translated into print!)
As always Love Sara x How in the name of all things smutty can it be a year (actually just a little over) since I've updated this site? I knew it had been a while, but... Damn!
Okay, so I guess "sorry" is in order. Life just has this way of getting between the real me and the writing me. So I've just published a new book, "Thorn In Her Heart", which of course has it's own snazzy little page on this site complete with purchase links. Well, right now just Amazon links as the Barnes & Noble and Kobo links aren't yet active. But it's available from Amazon as ebook and paperback as usual. And as usual, my apologies for the paperback price - unfortunately I can't set it any lower as Amazon won't let me! Hmm... What else has happened in the last year? Our menagerie has grown by 2 cats (who were supposed to be rat-catching barn cats but that hasn't happened - they were too young when we adopted them, so they were to be house cats "until they're big enough"... Yeah, that was seven months ago! But they're too cute to kick out to the barn now. So I'll update the Thorn links once B&N/Kobo wake up. I also finally added "Jumping Into Love" to B&N since it was previously stuck on Amazon only due to the (pointless) author contest they were running. I'm sorry - I know it sounds like sour grapes - but if you're running a contest for 'new talent' then the finalists/winner should not be people who already have a large fan base and make a healthy living from their writing! But that's just my humble (and no doubt petty) opinion. I guess I should go do something useful... Like make more coffee! Love Sara x I think I've done pretty well here - only six weeks or so between blog posts!
So maybe you're wondering about the title of this post. Well, I read someone else's blog post recently where, long story short, I was reminded that if you really want something, then you'll find or make the time for it. So since real life was interfering so badly with my writing/editing etc., time, I decided to try adding some more hours to my day and try getting out of bed an hour or two early to get some work done. Yeah, I know it's not earth-shattering, but since my day usually starts around 6:30am.... So anyway, I've been doing that for a week and I have to say that today was the only day that I didn't really do it. In my defense, I woke up around 4am and my back was killing me, so I reset my alarm to my usual waking time. Then I woke up 40 minutes early anyway, so I got up and nuked some coffee to get me going. Anyway, in the course of the last week I've managed to finish writing a book in a totally different genre AND get Jumping Into Love edited and uploaded to Amazon! Now, Amazon are running a contest for authors which I've enrolled Jumping Into Love with (which is also why it is only available on Amazon for the first 90 days as a requirement is that you enroll your book in Kindle Direct which limits you to Amazon only). One of the criteria they use to decide whether to take a book forward to the 'next round' is reviews, so I would be super-ultra-grateful if anyone who reads the book could submit a review on Amazon! I don't think you have to do anything special - just do a review and they take care of the rest. I've also set Jumping Into Love on pre-release, so you can buy/order it now but the actual release date is 5/2/17. So it's been a while. Again. Sorry about that. Real life has the most delightful way of intruding into my "play" time!
Anyway, I finally made some progress. "Rocking The Storm" now has a pretty, shiny new cover and has been uploaded to Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Kobo. It's already live on Amazon, "processing" at the others. "Jumping Into Love" is the next project and just needs some tweaks from me before I send it off for reading/editing. Hopefully this one will be available within the next month or two. As you can see, I've also made some changes to the website. Decided a new look was in order, and since I've changed my cover art to a sort of branded look, I figured the website should reflect that. Quite pleased with both the book cover and website, even if I say so myself. Different but still shows the genre. Now if only there were more hours in the day, I could actually get on with some writing.... But for now, as ever, Love, Sara X PS: Let me know what you think of the "new, improved" website! The contact page is still here (now it's lurking under the "about" tab!) So here we go, into 2017 and whatever it may bring.
Well, so far it's brought the re-release of Gabi's Secret after a slight delay due to my ex-publisher not keeping up their end of the rights reversion agreement. Still not entirely sure whether they finally did what they promised to or if Amazon took note of the rights reversion notice I sent to them and pulled the books for me, but either way both Gabi's Secret and Rocking The Storm listings which were under the publisher have now gone bye-bye! So far I have re-released Gabi, and RTS will follow as soon as I have the new cover art. As much as I liked the original covers, I felt that a complete change would be best! I've also done a little bit of website tidying/changing around the books area - feel free to let me know if I'm making too many sub-pages! The next book to be released will be a new one, and it is now with my editing lady, so I'll keep you updated on that. I'm also planning to do a Facebook giveaway thing - thinking of having a "like and share my page to be entered into a draw for a free copy of each currently released book once page likes reach X". Thoughts? Guess I need to do some more "housekeeping" on the book front then maybe I can get some writing done today. As ever love Sara x So, with all appropriate fanfare and applause, "Legalizing Kane" is now available for purchase! Links are shown on the Books page.
Pretty excited to be able to offer this book (and probably all subsequent releases) in a paperback format as well as e-book. This is made possible by Amazon CreateSpace, where they literally print and bind the books as they are ordered! (Okay, maybe this was widely known to most people, but it was new and exciting to me when I found out about it.) Because of this process, there is a longish delivery time (though the copies I have ordered as trials should be with me in 2 weeks, which isn't bad). This does also mean that the price is quite a bit higher than e-book or even 'normal' paperback, but they set the minimum price and as author I receive very little royalties on these issues (far less than for e-books) but I just loved the idea of being able to hold a real, tangible, honest-to-goodness BOOK that I'd written in my hands. I'm awaiting approval on another site to list Kane there, and am also awaiting (with bated breath) the first review on the book, so watch this space for updates. I have another book already with my friendly neighborhood editor, plus obviously the two previously released by "the-publisher-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned" which will be re-released (with shiny new covers) on January 1st, 2017. I'm hoping that I can have them loaded and ready to go on all sites so I just have to hit the magic button on New Year's Day. Other than that, I have another few in the works, but for some reason have now started writing a factual/informative book (under my real name) as well. Just a glutton for punishment I guess. I should go find something to eat. My hubby has informed me that a bagel does not constitute dinner and that I need to eat something more substantial (insert smutty thoughts *here*). So after the speed bump that was the aforementioned, unmentioned publisher, things are back on track and moving forward, and I'm really excited to see what the future brings. But as always Love Sara x So after the shocking news last week (well it shocked me) I have some good - GREAT - news to share! My next book will be self-published very soon. I plan/hope to have it up by the end of this month, but that is dependent upon having editing completed. As you can see from the super-cool image above (courtesy of www.tarynelliott.com) I plan to make this one available as both e-book and paperback (and plan to do the same with subsequent releases). I will obviously keep you updated on the official release date, but I really feel like this is a whole new chapter (no pun intended) in my writing 'career'! Hey, at least this way I'll actually get paid.... But for now As ever Love Sara x I was contacted late yesterday evening by a concerned author who had received notification that Ellora's Cave (our mutual publisher) had closed their doors. I hadn't heard anything directly, but sent an email to the contracts department this morning.
I received a response that a notification had been posted on a website/forum/blog or something (which I apparently "should have joined to receive official notifications", which if I'd been told about it I would have done). I was sent a copy of the notification, which confirmed that the publisher have indeed folded. Also attached was a short document for me to complete and sign to have my book rights restored to me. Under the clauses of this document, my books will remain on Amazon etc., until December 31st, 2016, and after rights reversion I will then be able to self-publish/send to another publisher from January 1st, 2017. BUT another clause states that to have my rights revert to me, I must agree to forfeit any outstanding royalty payments. Now, I most likely have very little in the way of outstanding royalties, since I have had only two books released, and as a beginning author I realize that my readership is small. HOWEVER I am less happy that they will be able to continue to sell my books online until the end of this year and none of the monies will come my way. In all likelihood, I will agree to this, just to have my rights revert without too much delay (though I have sent them a counter-proposal that if they pay me royalties CURRENTLY due, I will forfeit rights to any between now and end of year). I am therefore asking that anyone who is considering purchasing one of my books hold off until the beginning of next year when, in some way, shape or form, they will once again be available! I was doing a little website housekeeping and thought I should check in here and say hi. So... HI!
What's happening in Sara-smut-land? Well, Gabi's Secret has received some nice reviews, and the first review of Rocking The Storm has also been positive, so I'm very excited by that. Kind of takes the sting out of the "it's just porn" comments LOL My next book is pretty well underway. I'm guessing/hoping/planning to have it ready for pre-editing in another week or so, then off it will go to my editor for her perusal and decision on whether it's worth publishing. I do have another few things on the back burner. Actually I have.... *counting on fingers and toes* one oldie that I'm reworking, another oldie that I'm going to rework, one story that's a dozen or so pages in, one that's a whole page in and two or three that are still just ideas.... So if somebody could put more than 24 hours in each day, that would really help! But sitting here isn't getting any of that done. Or any of my real life chores either. So I should probably get back to that. For now as always Love Sara x |
